Chinese Detectives was started in 1995 by Per Aksel Lundgreen, shortly after his exit from Apoptygma Berzerk. Per Aksel joined teams with Preben Bjønnes known from Cronos Titan and Defcon 4, and initially they used Kristine Ulfeng as singer. After two singles, she was replaced with Desiree Grandahl who's doing the vocals on the entire album. "Situation" [a very strong cover of the Yazoo hit] was released in 1995, followed by "Where do the Boys go?" and "You think you're a Man" in 1996. The full album was finally released in 1999 to great success. The previous singles had already done well both in dance-charts (even being pure synth-pop!) and on Norwegian Television with their videos, and the full album sold thousands in Sweden, Germany and also in Poland, Austria, Czech Republik and even found its way to Russia. Chinese Detectives played many gigs in Sweden and Norway, but in the middle of everything, life happened, and Chinese Detectives were disbanded. There's been a couple of "reunion gigs" in 2012 and 2016 in Norway and Sweden, but apart from that, it's been pretty quiet.
