Art can be neither broad nor artificial - it has to be authentic, real and unrestrained. Grausame Töchter exists because we had to unload our bursting emotions. We are women who sing, play musical instruments, dance and perform. Even though we studied other genres, we eventually broke loose to live out our limitless passion. Ever since, we call ourselves Grausame Töchter (= Cruel daughters). In 2021, our sixth album "Zyklus" will be taking a dark, dystopic, sexual, sarcastic and grotty look at humanity. Are we pessimistic? Yeah, of course! Are we depressive? Never! "Zyklus" is joyful pessimism!
“Alpha” and “Omega” - beginning and end – with these two almost classical pieces of music, GT describe the birth of the world and all life in between - as well as their ultimate end - in an astonishingly poignant way. The time between the beginning and the end is the core subject matter of the album, and it shouldn’t come as a suprise that GT have a brutally dystopic view
of society. Musically, the new album is diverse and full of variation between Electroclash and Synthpop as well as Electropunk and EBM. A characteristically unique and innovative mix, along withdepartures into Vivaldi-like Baroque music, soundtrack, acoustic pop, noize and much more.Aside from electronic instruments, the drums, guitar, piano and strings are put to great use as well – particularly the brilliant cello of Bo Tadic. All this culminated in 15 very different tracks, all independent and produced magnificently by Gregor Hennig in Studio Nord in Bremen. Though all the typical ingredients for music are here, you keep getting reminded that GT is one of the few innovative bands in the dark scene that know we live in the year 2021. “Our music needs to be visualized”, Aranea Peel says. “That’s why there’s gonna be lots of live concerts again. We’re already hard at work for our new performance!” Those who saw Grausame Töchter live know that their concerts are indeed quite spectacular and the furthest thing from boredom.
Limited Edition of strictly 1'000 units double-CD in digipak, including a very special, exclusive 10-tracks Bonus-CD ‘Aranea Peel sings classic German Chansons’. German songs are evil songs.
The German Chanson-classics by Friedrich Hollaender and Brecht-composers Kurt Weill and Hanns Eisler have been sung a lot of times. Perhaps too many times. But here, they are lived through without reservations by Aranea Peel – or in other words: Authentically interpreted! This requires lust, spirit, dedication and experience with the dark side of humanity. Aranea Peel melts into the lines as if they were her own. With this devotion in mind, the listeners will surely feel entirely new facets and aspects of the songs develop that allow for an entirely different view on them.
An expressive spectrum of different moods that put the listeners under their spell – from sophisticated and egocentric, aggressively lustful, pseudo-naively grotesque, demonically erotic to fragile and honest! All of them fired off, confirmed and then vehemently opposed again by Aranea Peel's vivid personality. Even in the musical accompaniment, nothing was skimped on: A sumptous orchestra backs her up on a consistently high level. The edits and arrangements done by Hans-Jürgen Osmers are equally as expressive and underline the effect of the chansons. This album was a stroke of good fortune – the components were in all the right places. What this amounted to is genuine art
