This is "Dark Chapters", the long-awaited debut album by the Berlin-based band KY (pronounced: /keɪ waɪ/). The mostly autobiographical lyrics by singer Acey Jee are profound, intimate and dark and deal with unrequited love, breaking away from toxic relationships, trauma, sex, her battle with depression and cancer and how she has managed to survive and defend her unbridled lust for life.
The sound is electronic, driving, hard. The duo's rock roots cannot be denied in some songs and in Acey's powerful voice. The two find it exciting to translate/transform the raw power of rock into the versatility of synthpop and thereby playfully create something completely new and unique. The addition of danceable pop songs and dark, glowing ballads make "Dark Chapters" a collection of self-contained stories, individual chapters, dark, exciting, emotional and varied.
“Dark Chapters” will be released with 10 songs digitally, and this physical version contains the exclusive bonus song “Save Me”.
