Maris Anguis Returns with "Pilgrimage of Fire" - A Transcendent Journey Through Ritualistic Dark Ambient Soundscapes
"Pilgrimage of Fire" represents a deepening of the Maris Anguis aesthetic, where horror-tinged drones and ritualistic textures converge to create profound spaces for contemplation. Across its 57 minutes, Utasato weaves together haunting ambient passages and meditative soundscapes that reflect humanity's struggle through what she describes as "this age of fire" - a world marked by conflict and confusion.
The album's seven movements unfold as an immersive pilgrimage through both darkness and transcendence. Utasato's refined approach to dark ambient composition creates vast, cathedral-like spaces filled with spectral drones, subtle field recordings, and carefully sculpted noise that ebbs and flows like ancient breathing. Each track serves as both a meditation on suffering and a search for enlightenment beyond physical existence.
"We are on a pilgrimage in this universe," Utasato explains. "The journey of this world is limited, and this pilgrimage that has been given to us now is in an age of fire... we wander, searching for hope in the light that shines through the faintest gaps."
