Few electronic music projects withstand the test of time, changing life circumstances, and the highs and lows that come with them. Oliver Teßmer and Matthias Blechschmidt are a rare example of how artistic maturity can truly succeed.
Their journey began in the mid-1990s with the project Strange Facts, culminating in the album Confide. Around the turn of the millennium, reduced to a duo and reborn as Starsign, they signaled a clear step forward. Their 2003 debut Transceiver stood out with strong songwriting and a focused blend of creativity and lived experience.
After a long silence, Starsign finally returned in 2024!
Their comeback single Clear Horizon captures the confusion and realizations of an imbalanced relationship through vivid imagery and a driving, finely polished pop sound. Follow-up singles Steal The Sun and Shiver led the band to Infacted Recordings, where N.Q.N.K. was released in September. The new album Silver Linings is set for release on February 27.
Silver Linings balances nostalgia and individuality with ease. Driving beats, layered song structures, and industrial textures within a pop framework define Starsign’s sound, exemplified by tracks such as Clear Horizon, Steal The Sun, Shiver, and N.Q.N.K.. More atmospheric pieces like A Little Closer and Ad Nauseam explore sonic depth without losing melodic strength, while Silent Prayers stands out as an energetic synth-pop anthem.
Lyrically, Starsign remain authentic and direct. Oliver Teßmer’s words draw openly from personal experiences of loss, separation, faith, and hope.
Starsign are a refreshing highlight in a scene that has offered little excitement in recent years.
Released February 2026 on Infacted.
