Founded 1981 in Sheffield, the 3 members lived with Steph-en Mallinder (Cabaret Voltaire) and Paul Widger (Clock DVA, the Box) in a villa called Hula Kula. After various changes in the line-up, incl. 2 drummers of Cabaret Voltaire, Hula recorded the impressive album ‘Murmur’ for Red Rhino (1984). Ingredients like cut ups, steady rhythms and paranoia vocals were blended together into a unique sound. This was also the time of Hula's great singles: ‘Fever Car’, ‘Get the Habit’ and ‘Walk on Stalks of Shattered Glass’, all released around that time and all added to the album as bonus tracks here, making this CD about twice as long as the original vinyl album. Remastered by Attrition's Martin Bowes and the band's own Nort.
Released Mid June 2018 by Klanggalerie.
