The multi-faceted project Worms of the Earth returns with a new full-length album, Kheri-Habet, serving as a direct sequel to the 2019 ritual ambient album Netjer. The Egyptian title ẖrj-ḥꜣb, which can be written in English as kheri-habet, means “the carrier of the book of ritual” and was used for lector priests who recited spells during temple rituals and practiced the ancient Egyptian magic called Heka or Hekaw. Once again inspired by ritual workings with the ancient Egyptian pantheon, this album delivers a fusion of darkened, sand-covered atmospheres and roiling tribal percussion to create a series of potent
audio sigils. The album heavily evokes the feeling of a robe-enshrouded magus performing his workings under the full moon, either surrounded by the endless sands of the Saharan desert or delving deep into the heart of divine temples to commune with the sacred energies of the netjer. Kheri-Habet distills a legion of ancient Egyptian funerary rites and revises them into 8 sepulchral hymns to prepare and empower the listener for incorporeal travel into & within the realm of the Duat, the astral enclave where the ancient Egyptian deities reside. This album is the perfect companion for ritual work, gaming, meditation, or any other method of deep introspection. Available on CD in 6-panel digipak limited to 50 hand-numbered copies, and as digital download.
