Originally composed for Takeshi Kitano’s cult 1993 yakuza film, Sonatine finds Joe Hisaishi in minimalist and ambient territory, far from his later orchestral grandeur. This official reissue by WRWTFWW Records presents the full soundtrack on CD for the first time outside Japan, housed in a deluxe digipack with selective varnish print and obi strip. A highly personal favorite of Hisaishi himself, the score blends melancholic piano themes, electronic textures, and meditative atmospheres, making it one of his most introspective and unique works.
Released in 2025 through We Release Whatever The F*ck We Want Records.
