Whether you love Eldritch or you hate him, it"s impossible to deny the profound influence that The Sisters of Mercy had on the goth-rock genre (and many other alternative formats, though not to the same degree). If you needed to explain goth rock to someone by playing just one band, it would surely be The Sisters.
This album is, in our opinion, -the- absolute, quintessential gothic rock album. A textbook example and one that set the standard for a cadre of followers and a horde of imitators. Highest recommendation. This new version of Floodland released early November, 2006 is completely remastered, packaged in a nice digipack, features updated liner notes, and most importantly, contains bonus tracks, including the previously unreleased "Never Land [Full Length]".
