Limited Edition of 250 copies on BLACK Vinyl
A band from Leeds/UK, an atmospheric synth intro, shimmering guitar sounds...this won't finally be the new album by... No, "Passion & Fire" is of course not a new record by Mr. Eldritch, but the first album by the DEATHTRIPPERS, who also come from Leeds and released their first EP in 2017. After an LP with early recordings in Spain, "Passion & Fire" is the first album with only new tracks! The DEATHTRIPPERS fill a niche on the label that existed in classic UK-style Gothrock. Leeds was considered a "Goth City" in the 80s with bands like The March Violets, The Three Johns, Salvation, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and of course The Sisters Of Mercy. Deathtrippers continue this tradition, but combine the Brit-Goth sound with Guitar Wave รก la Lowlife or Sad Lovers And Giants, so that it doesn't get quite so dark, but also very catchy. The mix captivates immediately and you feel transported back to the 80s or to the wave of 90s Brit-Goth bands like Restoration, Children On Stun or Drama Asylum. Deathtrippers seem a bit out of date at first sight, but they are never old-fashioned, because with bands like Rosegarden Funeral Party, Geometric Vision, Wires & Lights, Traitrs or Twin Tribes there are numerous bands that pick up on similar influences and present them successfully. Deathtrippers come closest to these musical roots. "Higher" sounds almost like a lost BFG song, "Passion & Fire" would do well as a concert opener, while "Day After Day" is the perfect powerful encore and will work in the clubs too. A fan favorite surely will be the catchy "Salvation", while "She Speaks In Spells" goes all out for epic atmosphere similar to what The Mission played on "Children".
