Before the current catastrophic situation with Russia attacking Ukraine, there was a whole wave of fresh Eastern European bands from countries like Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. Ploho, Utro, the incredibly successful and worldwide-touring Molchat Doma, Sierpien or Kurs Valüt were able to make a good name for themselves outside their home countries in a short time.
NÜRNBERG from Belarus has also been able to draw attention to itself with a number of releases that have been licensed in several countries. Young & Cold Records are now presenting two records from NÜRNBERG. Firstly, the re-release of the 2021 mini-album "U Nikudy" and the brand new "Ahida" (followed shortly by 2 more releases). Both discs offer the kind of Postpunk/Darkwave that has been extraordinarily successful in recent years, that means a mixture of electronic rhythms, atmospheric synths and wavy guitars. The musical proximity to the compatriots Molchat Doma cannot be ignored. On "U Nikudy" NÜRNBERG sound even more refreshing and somehow "lighter" than their colleagues. With the title song "U Nikudy" there is a catchy tune that immediately sticks in your mind, in "Patunuc" the guitar sounds a bit like The Cure and a nice wave pop song comes out of it. "Los" has a song structure similar to that of Bragolin, who also had their breakthrough in the scene with Y&C. A few early demo versions, that this re-release contains as a bonus, are particularly exciting on "U Nikudy".
Released Mid July 2023 by Young And Cold Records.
